Blog: Not so Rosy Journey! 14th July, 2016
It was not an easy journey till here. many troubles that I have undertaken, I feel were more than anybody else. But, more work that I have undertaken is yet to be completed. The pain of even one reject from a university gets a person in a depression, and I have seen 15 such rejects. Isn't it extra-ordinary ! I applied to 8 US Universities for Ph.D. but they didnt trust my caliber. They doubt my credentials. They couldn't catch my honest PhD intent. The storey of rejects is not over here, it is still on. Three rejects from IIT-B, IIT-M and IIT-BHU, made me self doubt my plans and my determination. I couldnt even reach their interview levels. Society started doubting my confidence and suggestions have started pouring in that I am meant only for TCS or MS in US. I have already spent not less than Rs. 2 Lakhs on my applications in India as well as abroad. Today, even though I have made a good thesis, I dont have any good admission in my hand.
Now, its turn for my promise to myself. I will reach the level of excellence and will pursue my dream job. I promise to take the profession of Teaching to the next level, level un-imaginable today ! A teacher who incites a student, and prepares him for all the probabilistic life adversity, not only by pushing him in it, but also by lending a helping hand whenever he is in trouble, not only by words of greatness but also by actions of worth. I promise myself to be the structural consultant having a mindset of overhauling the infra, designing not only the longest and the tallest but also the most sustain-able; let every structure in the world be above standards in terms of its economy, stability and suitability, taking us this as the duty of my profession. I promise myself, to be the guide and a mentor to everyone who has doubts, who needs direction, clarity and a step-by-step approach.
